Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is a joy to be the principal of Saint John School! Since my first day here I have truly loved being a member of our school community as we grow together daily in God’s love.
Nestled in the heart of the North End, Saint John School has been educating children for over 125 years; some of our students represent the third generation of their family to attend. Our nearby location on the Freedom Trail makes us a great choice for people commuting into Boston as is evident by the students we draw daily from 25 communities surrounding Boston. The warm and caring environment of our school is regularly something visitors comment on whenever spending time here.
Our dedicated and hardworking teachers ensure students feel they are welcome and their needs are being supported. Through caring for our students with respect and God’s love, teachers challenge them daily to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. The relationship that parents and teachers foster as members of our school ensures a strong partnership to support each child's learning.
The academic curriculum at Saint John School seeks to challenge all learners through critical thinking, student collaboration, and problem-solving. Learning to engage in Socratic seminars and STEM activities equips students with vital skills to ensure their continued academic success. In religious instruction, our students not only learn about their faith but also understand how to live their faith daily by modeling the message of the Gospels. The educational and spiritual foundation a child receives at Saint John School prepares them to continue to grow in their faith while building their knowledge to succeed later in high school. Our graduates move on to the finest high schools in Boston and we are thrilled when they return and share their news of continued success. They often remark how well prepared they were for high school and beyond.
As St. John School enters into our 126th year of educating young minds, faith and academic excellence continue to be the cornerstone of our teaching. This year, choosing the right school for your child can feel like an even more important decision as we collectively navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. In Boston, we are blessed to have many wonderful choices for schools, however, I believe you’ll discover Saint John School offers a unique environment where your child will thrive and explore new possibilities - with Catholic roots and worldly wings to prepare them to succeed in the world.
I look forward to the opportunity to share more about Saint John School and the difference a Catholic education can make in a child’s life.
Blessings,
Ms. Claire Cassidy
